Adam Steven Neal (American, b. 1991)

I am a documentary photographer and writer raised between various worlds: Korean and America, military and civilian, queer and heterosexual. My work is invested in the exploration of Asian American and LGBTQ+ intersectionality by examining how these diasporic cultures form and reform community.

Though I consider what I make to be artistic in nature, I am not an artist. I am only an observer and a story-teller. The camera is a tool of curiosity, an excuse to be in the room, to ask questions, to dig deeper. I write to understand myself and the world.

Along with my husband, Todd Joseph Danforth, we reside between homes in Palm Springs, California, and Boston, Massachusetts. Our business is wedding photography and this joyful, life-giving work is largely responsible for providing the funding and time for us to be curious and create. For that, I am grateful.
